Gestures such as turning the remote upside down allow you to switch to a secondary fire mode, and bringing the remote up to your ear will enable you to play audio recordings you have uncovered.
In the Wii version, the Wiimote controls the weapons from the original game. The player has no direct control over their movement, and they have only a limited ability to direct their attention where they want to look. The action takes place in the style of an on-rails shooter. There is also support for co-op gaming between two players. The player will switch between these characters throughout the game and travel between the Aegis VII colony and the USG Ishimura, featured in the first game. The story of four colonists trapped at the beginning of the infection’s spread is told in Extraction, a precursor to the game Dead Space, released in 2008.
